Claudia Walde (aka MadC) spent over two years collecting alphabets by 154 artists from 30 countries, with a mission to produce a reference book filled cover to cover with various styles of graffiti ‘piece’ or block letters; A-Z.
The book features expert contributions from style masters across the globe, including Askew TMD, Atom TMD, Can Two SUK, Ces TMT, CMP, Dare TWS, Kent SUK, Loomit FBI, Puppet (Sweden) Rime MSK, Smash137, Swet TWS, Toast TWS & Australia’s own Jorz RDC, Vans The Omega, Sirum TMD & Hooks F1.
All of the artists in the book have roots in graffiti. Some are world renowned such as 123 Klan (Canada) Faith47 (South Africa) & Hera (Germany) while others are lesser known & starting to build their profile & reputation.
Each artist received the same brief: to design all 26 letters of the Latin alphabet within the limits of a single page of the book. How they approached this and selected the media with which to express their ideas was entirely up to them.
With styles ranging from classic old-school to modern font designs – the book is intended as a beginners’s guide for those new to graffiti, a timeless collection of styles for experienced writers, as well as a source of inspiration for type designers.
This original book will inspire fans of street culture as well as typographers, graphic designers, advertising and communication students and design professionals worldwide.
